The Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Domestic Services Manager to join our Facilities team. This is a key leadership role, responsible for the day-to-day operational management of our Domestic services across Dewsbury & District Hospital, with oversight at our Pontefract General Infirmary site.

Main duties
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of staff, ensuring our hospitals are clean, safe, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff. This includes supervising Assistant Team Leaders and Supervisors, managing absence and staffing levels, monitoring cleanliness via the MICAD system, overseeing training compliance, and deputising for the Facilities Manager when required.
Key requirements
- Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Domestic and Housekeeping service staff Dewsbury & District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary
- To co-ordinate, manage, supervise, assistant team leaders and support domestic staff at Dewsbury & District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary
- To deputise for the Facilities Manager in times of absence to maintain the operational delivery of on-site domestic and linen services.
- Resolving day to day operational management issues within Domestic, Housekeeping services
- Ongoing monitoring of the EMO to ensure the quality of the food service provided to all patients is always adhered to
- Monitoring of sickness\absence levels and taking appropriate action in accordance with the Trust’s sickness policy referring complex/formal cases to the Facilities Manager
- Co-ordination and collation of weekly attendance records for domestic hours
- Responsible for the monitoring of cleanliness using IT based MICAD system.
- Management of the Electronic Staff Record System for Domestic and Housekeepers at Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary
- Non stock ordering using the Oracle system.
- Day to day operational management of Domestic and Housekeeping service staff at Dewsbury and District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary.
- Undertaking short-term and long-term sickness absence reviews, in liaison with Human Resources, Occupational Health.
- Recruitment of staff for all three sites and liaise with the Vacancy Control Team regarding vacancies as the occur.
- Carrying out disciplinary investigations and presenting management cases to a disciplinary panel also prepares and presents necessary ‘statement of case’ for sickness panels.
- Manage and monitor the completion of Mandatory and Functional Training to ensure the team are keeping to a target of 95% completion rate.
- Organisation and coordination of periodic and ad-hoc work on site for domestic services.
- Supporting and assisting the Facilities Manager with new ideas/initiatives, which ensure the local development of the service.
- Write staff referral letters to Occupational Health to assist in absence management.
- Authorisation of overtime on weekly time sheets.
- Authorisation on e-rostering of Assistant Team Leaders pay.
