About the role
This is a great opportunity to extend knowledge and experience in the Childcare and Education profession, at our NHS Workplace Nursery.
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, caring individuals, with some experience of working with children 0-5 and 5-12 years, to join our Supply Childcare Practitioner Team. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work at short notice.
We are based on Pinderfields site in Wakefield in a purpose built nursery. We can offer flexibility, training and excellent working conditions.
The job role is to care and support children in a group setting. To have an individual approach to each child, to stimulate and offer rich and exciting activities.
We work within the guidelines of Ofsted and the NHS.
Main duties
To maintain a professional appearance in line with the Trust dress code.
To be flexible and adaptable, working as part of a large team, providing childcare and education in the absence of permanent Childcare Practitioners.
To adhere to the nurseries/holiday clubs daily routines, participating in all appropriate arrangements.
To have knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding issues and comply with policy and procedure.
To promote positive behaviour through praise and reward.
To be aware of children who have Individual needs working with colleagues and parents.
To undertake observation of the children to support the keyperson and team planning, also monitor the individual child's development needs.
To adhere to strict confidentiality.
To follow food safety procedures.
Key requirements
English language grade 4-9 or equivalent
Experience of working with children 0-5 and 5-12 years.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and prevent duty.
To have good time management skills.
The ability to enhance own skills and knowledge.
To understand the need to maintain confidentiality.
To communicate effectively with the children at their level, in a calm, caring, reassuring manner.
To keep the Management team informed of the availability to work.
To assist with the child's entire personal care needs, during the nursery day, including feeding, changing nappies or soiled clothing, special dietary requirements and sterilization of feeding and play equipment.
To work closely with colleagues and the management team to ensure high quality standards are maintained.
To be able to use an electronic device to complete observations and record daily activities.
To be able to manoeuvre children and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
To administer first aid as appropriate.
To work with the children both inside and outside, providing simulating activities.
