About the role

Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is pleased to announce that a vacancy has become available in our MYDoc registrar programme. The post will be a combination of service delivery and educational input within the specialty.

This post is not a recognised UK training post. However, the post-holder will have a named supervisor, and be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and specialty. This post is ideally suited for a St3/4 equivalent trainee who would like further exposure and experience in the speciality prior to national recruitment.

Main duties

The main duties of the post will include:

  • Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases.
  • Assisting and operating (with or without direct supervision) on patients in theatre depending on attained surgical competencies
  • Referral of patients to other specialities as appropriate
  • Out-patient activities/clinics
  • Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
  • Involvement in relevant administration duties
  • Teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
  • Active involvement in audit & clinical governance including service improvement activities
  • Participation in acute non-resident middle grade on-call rota

Essential person specification requirements

To meet the requirements of this role, applicants must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
  • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Pre-registration / foundation training and at least one year in a relevant specialty in an NHS Trust or with equivalent experience from overseas
  • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Possesses good communication skills
