About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategically focused Director of Estates & Facilities to join us at a pivotal point in our development. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and as a key member of the senior leadership team, you will lead the long-term planning and optimisation of our estate and infrastructure.
This is a high-impact executive role, shaping and delivering the Trust’s Estates Strategy aligned to our clinical ambitions and future service model. You will play a central role in ensuring our estate is safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for purpose, while driving a Corporate Landlord approach to maximise utilisation and value.
Main duties
You will:
- Advise the Board as the Trust’s subject matter expert on estates and facilities
- Lead the development and delivery of the Estates Strategy, Delivery Plan and Capital Strategy
- Ensure safe, secure and fully compliant environments for patients and staff
- Oversee capital planning and programme delivery aligned to clinical priorities
- Manage PFI contracts to ensure performance, value and effective partnerships
- Drive sustainability and net zero initiatives across the estate
- Provide visible, values-led leadership to a large and diverse workforce
- Hold professional accountability for Estates (Hard FM), Facilities (Soft FM), Capital Projects, Property, Sustainability, PFI and Medical Devices
Essential person specification requirements
We are looking for a senior leader who brings:
- A strong track record in estates and facilities management at scale, ideally within healthcare or the NHS
- Strategic leadership capability alongside strong operational delivery
- Experience of leading transformation in complex, financially constrained environments
- In-depth knowledge of statutory compliance, governance and healthcare estates standards
- The ability to build strong relationships with clinical, corporate and external partners
